In a solid State of the Union address last night,
President Donald Trump summarized his numerous victories from the past year,
the accomplishments that have benefited everyday Americans, corporations, and
our nation in general. He pointed out the 2.4 million new jobs, rising wages,
record low unemployment, especially for black and Hispanic communities, major
tax cuts, the end of the Obamacare mandate, and the like. He encouraged us to
all work together and underscored our common ties as Americans. Between Trump
and the crowd, you could just sense the feeling of goodness, integrity and hope for the future. Then there
were the Democrats.
The same people who accuse Trump of
being a rude, boorish bully were acting like two-year olds being withheld a
coveted cookie. Based on the scowls of the Democratic members of Congress, apparently things like America, God and the Flag are all seen as hate speech now. The Democrats sat like stumps, or some kind of angry garden gnomes refusing to applaud even the issues that
most Americans would applaud - like respect for our military, more jobs and
lower taxes. Maybe that's the problem. The Democrats claim they are
pro-America, while Trump is actually demonstrating it.
But when you're driven by nothing but blind hatred, and your
idea of "progress" is keeping constituents economically enslaved,
under-educated and dependent, of course you would fume at a president who is
touting all the ways he is achieving real freedom and prosperity for Americans.
Unfortunately, in their petulant
pouting and disrespect, the Democrats revealed their true hatred for America
and succeeded only in looking like spoiled children. They should be
embarrassed, but that would require the kind of character that at least desires to
appear mature. The Democrats displayed nothing of the sort last night.
